ONE PET, ONE HOUSEHOLD CAMPAIGN

Dear friends,

Today is exactly 6 months since Muezza went missing.  To remember Muezza, we would like to announce that we are hereby launching a ONE PET, ONE HOUSEHOLD CAMPAIGN (1P1H).  We need your help to help us in able to make this campaign works and we wish to appeal every member to participate.  Sometimes the worst things we do IS do nothing- so let’s do something for the strays or shelter animals that are patiently waiting for their forever home.

To our rescuer friends that comes all over the worlds (yes, our rough calculation told us that quarter of MF members are the true rescuer – rescuer who work days and nights to make sure homeless animals receive their basic needs and find their forever home) please treat this campaign as a special Thank You wish from your non-rescuer friends for all your selfless efforts.

Details of the campaign

ONE PET, ONE HOUSEHOLD CAMPAIGN (1P1H)

Campaign duration:  Make it a lifetime effort but for now let’s start small.  Give yourself exactly one month to work on this campaign.  We will count the success rate in a month time.
Our suggestions

  • We suggest that each MF members to private message at least 10 of their friends who are yet to adopt any strays or shelter animals. Try to persuade them to adopt 1 stray or 1 animal from local shelter.  For now, we have more than 200 members.  If only 100 members participate by writing to 10 friends each, it will bring to 1000 potential adopter. 1% success, 10 strays will find home.  10% success, 100 animals will be saved from streets or shelter cages.
  • Be prepared for the rejection but we always believe that passion on animals could be trained.  The motivation is one success will lead to another success.  If we are able to persuade the parents in adopting strays or shelter animals, their children might do similar thing when they grow up.
  • Be prepared with excuses.  Allergies, busy, out stations are norms.  It even takes more than 20 years for MF co-founder to  convince our own family member (that has a chronic asthma) to adopt stray cats but it has been several months now since this family member adopted 3 stray cats and together with proper self management, no asthma attack experienced since she adopted the cats.  As one of our rescuer used to comment on his rescue works - The success is beautiful.  So please do not hold back the effort if you feel rejected.  Try to give some simple explaination. Educate.

We personally hope that everybody will join this campaign and hopefully manage to change someone mindset in a month.  All homeless pets deserved a home.

Good luck and do not forget to put some comment below this post if you agree to join this campaign.
Thank you

Muezza's story

We would like to share a story how Muezza fund founder, Muezza the cat found us

Both MF human team members were car pooling to work as usual since 2008 - and Dec 19th, 2012 is just another working day for us.  We are best friend for the past 21 years and car pooling is something that we both love. We fight, we talk and share stories in that average 1½ hour journey every single working day.  To non-Malaysian friends, you might wonder how far our journey to work is.  The distance from our homes (both of us stay not too far from each other) to work places is about 32km but the traffic in Kuala Lumpur is heavier compare to any European countries, except Italy I guess.

On the evening Dec 19th, we were car pooling back from work place to home by using our usual route when suddenly I notice that I accidently left my son’s birthday present in the public area  in my work place building (my son will celebrate his 2nd birthday in 2 days).  I had a mixed feeling whether to make a U-turn and pick the present or continue our journey home as we already travel more than half of our journey.  The other human team member insists that we make U-turn as we had experienced of losing our belonging before.  We made an exit from the first highway, made a U-turn, drove back to the same highway and faced another bad traffic while entering city centre.  I still remember that I was mad at myself.  By the time we head home for the second time, we were exhausted.  Our 1.5 hour journey turned to be 3 hours journey.  The talks went slowly off and the co-driver almost dozed (lucky her, not me as I was the one who chose to drive every evening).  It was almost 8 p.m and the surroundings were already dark.  Exited from the first highway (MEX highway), we were entering second highway (KL-Puchong highway) which are smaller than the first one.  This second highway is a 4-lane highway with a road divider in the middle and the traffic is still heavy even though not as heavy as 2 hours before.  6-7km before reaching our residential area, I have to slow down when approaching a traffic light (to a fire station) that was turning from yellow to red.

Suddenly I saw a small creature jumping from the road divider and trying to cross to the other side of highway.  I could not see clearly even with street lights but the first instinct, it is a kitten from the movement.  The other human also saw it and automatically she jumped from our car (luckily by this time I already stopped the car due to traffic light already turned red). She picked the creature that almost cross the road, was bitten, bleed and run back to our car. Inside the car, our first glimpse, it is a black kitten.. too young to be there alone, let alone trying to cross the road.  Until today we are not too sure how he end up there.. in the middle of the road divider.  Maybe there is a monsoon drain connecting the road side and road divider and he used the drain to walk from where he first came from.  Things that happened that day were not ordinary. Everything was twisted.  That’s what I like to name as miracle.

The kitten ran and hide somewhere inside the car and was crying loudly the whole journey.  I was panicked as my house quota (decided by my other half) is already full and the other human team member already has 18 cats in her home.  So, finally I called the other half, trying to speak with the softest tone ever and asking him whether or not if I can foster the kitten. No definite answer but a long “hmmm”.  Knowing the other half better, that translated to “ok if I don’t have any other choice than allowing you”.  I won. Long story cut short. That’s how Muezza chose us to be his human slave.  And it was also a foster failed case.  Being his human slave was always fun as he was always my youngest boy and both his human brother and Muezza are consider almost similar generation in human & cat years. Toys fighting are common in our home.  Both of them always claimed the other’s toys were theirs.  Yet both are very close to each other.  Since Muezza went missing on Feb 10th this year, his human brother suffered most.

Tomorrow will be 6 months since Muezza has been taken away from us. How would we know that Muezza has been taken from us and not ran away after his fall?  2 communicators (we get some help from religious men who performed special prayers to find out the answers) told us the same story. This story is dedicated to our special boy. Where ever he is now.  We are learning to accept and move on. Even though it’s painful, we believe it’s more important that Muezza has been well taken care of than our needs of wanting him to return to our lap.

Thank you

Please help Pogeza Dogs

Our friends in Belgrade, Pogeza is facing an emergency situation. One of their kennels is cut off by floods. The kennel owner will be forced to evacuate by military soon. At the moment, animals are not allowed into the rescue boats or helicopter.
Dogs will be left to perish in the flooding unless the rescuer manage to move them to higher ground. As for now, volunteers and rescuers are working hard to other possibilities. They need helps financially for the rescue works.

I would like to appeal for each member to donate 1 Euros (if you can afford more, it would be better) to Help Pogeza Dogs. Their FB group link is https://www.facebook.com/groups/HelpPozegaDogs/. Every Euros or Dollar Counts. 1 Euros = RM 4.42 = USD 1.37.

To my Malaysian friends who doesn't know how to donate, feel free to contact me. I will guide you.
